Halloween 2026 — Gameplay Update, 30 October 2026. Latest: the 5 Nov update.
Valve's Halloween 2026 notes ↗ (opens in a new tab) Valve's 5 Nov notes ↗ (opens in a new tab)
The Halloween 2026 update is the first balance patch since City Never Sleeps: 34 heroes and 38 items changed. The Mid-Boss has 20% more health, half the bounty and three Rejuvenator crystals instead of one. Haunts Haunts Lanes and Districts across the map Haunts replace the old neutral camps. They are not a reskin: each type behaves differently, and the health bar now shows a camp's soul value and how hard it is, so you can decide whether a camp is worth your time before you start shooting. Three eye colours mark the tier — teal for tier I, yellow for tier II, red for tier III. Souls 4168181 souls tier I / II / III a creep +0.44 / +0.73 / +1.95 a minute pay and fight about 10% harder, boxes grow slower and comeback money rises. Lifesteal items went up across the line and anti-heal rose with them. The six newest heroes can now be banned, and all six were adjusted, most of them down. Halloween Cauldrons and Sugar Rush run until 2 November. Every line below was checked against the game's own files.

Halloween, until 2 November
A limited event on top of the balance changes, in normal matches, until 2 November 2026.
- Halloween Cauldrons around the city break with one heavy melee and come back after 40 seconds. Each drops a piece of candy to keep for later.
- Eating candy gives Sugar Rush for 8 seconds: +15 Spirit Power, +15% fire rate, +1m/s move speed and a heal of 75, all growing a little with the match clock.
- The troll under the bridge in Green Lane takes candy with a heavy melee and pays with a random buff instead of Sugar Rush. The game files also list a 30% chance it just steals the candy.
- Pumpkins, masks on the heroes and a decorated Hideout are the rest of it. Rabies Ronnie, one of Rat King Rat King Released 2 October Released 2 October. A gun-scaling brawler and team buffer: a three-blast slowing grenade, rats that strip bullet resist with every bite, a reflecting barrier, and a banner that makes his team slow-immune. Radiant Regeneration: the notes say regen scaling went from 0.35 to 0.25. The files say 0.035 to 0.025, and Valve's own 14 October notes gave 0.035 for that value. This site uses the files.

The Broker and Corrupted items
A merchant who appeared part-way through the match and traded your high-tier items for Corrupted versions. Corrupted items were stronger than the originals, but every one carried a random negative attribute drawn from a fixed pool. He left on 2 October, when the first new hero arrived.
- What you get
- He takes one of your high-tier items and hands back its Corrupted version; no separate soul price has been published. The gain is the item's upgraded stats, the cost is the random drawback.
- First stock
- Around the 30-minute mark (exact arrival varies)
- Restocks
- On average every 15 minutes after the first
- What he takes
- Your high-tier items, exchanged one for one for the Corrupted version
- The catch
- Each match, every Corrupted item is assigned random negatives from a predefined set. The size of the up- and downsides varies a little, but is the same for all twelve players in that game
- How long he stayed
- Until the first new hero released: he left on 2 October 2026, when Rat King Rat King Released 2 October Released 2 October. A gun-scaling brawler and team buffer: a three-blast slowing grenade, rats that strip bullet resist with every bite, a reflecting barrier, and a banner that makes his team slow-immune. arrived. Corrupted items left the normal game with him (Street Brawl kept one after its Round 5 draft, though a 4 October data change looks to have removed that too). Valve says he comes and goes, so expect him back
- Read the drawback before you trade. A corrupted survivability item that costs you healing received is a downgrade on a hero who lives on Lifesteal.
- Drawbacks are identical for everyone in your match, so check what the enemy carry traded for — their weakness is now public information.
- The Broker left on 2 October when Rat King Rat King Released 2 October Released 2 October. A gun-scaling brawler and team buffer: a three-blast slowing grenade, rats that strip bullet resist with every bite, a reflecting barrier, and a banner that makes his team slow-immune. arrived, so Corrupted items are out of normal matches for now; nothing on this site's build advice assumes one.
About 90 Corrupted variants exist — roughly 30 Weapon, 31 Vitality, 29 Spirit. Upsides below are the usual roll; the drawback is random from a fixed pool, the same for everyone in your match.

Heroes and items in this patch
No ability or item numbers changed in 10-30-2026. Apart from Rat King and Sinclair, every cooldown, damage value and item stat on this site is the one set by the 10-30-2026 balance patch, which is still in force. The follow-ups listed since launch touched Corrupted items (which left normal matches with the Broker) and a few behaviours, added Rat King, Baba, Solomon, Deadman Danny, Violet and Nurse Harrow, and on 5 October tuned Rat King and Sinclair, whose pages show the new values. What changed for existing heroes in 10-30-2026 itself is behaviour, not values:
1 buff 1 nerf 4 fixes and behaviour changes
- Buff
Graves — Her gun can now destroy Venator's traps. A Graves lane against Venator can clear his doorway set-ups before walking through them. - Nerf
Venator — Traps are no longer safe from Graves — she can shoot them out. Place them where she cannot see them before she commits. - Fix
Yamato —
Flying Slash no longer fails to path onto targets that are solid to you: turrets, shrines and other objectives work as intended. - Change
Rem — Sinner's Sacrifices Sinner's Sacrifice Ten machines around the map, plus the Bell Tower A slot machine you punch for souls: each light melee pays about a twentieth of its value, each heavy a tenth, and the final hit pays half plus a heavy — more in the jackpot window, whose timing now varies. 500 health; it hits back for 80 a punch outside the jackpot phase. Souls 310 souls at 0:00 +3.35 a minute now have variable timings for the bonus, which changes when a Lil' Helper sent to collect one actually pays out. - Fix
Sinclair — A batch of bug fixes; no values changed. - Fix
The Doorman — Several bug and abuse cases closed; no values changed. - Note
Silver — No change this patch, but the global 'dashes and light melee no longer pause your gun's cycle time' rule from 09-16 still matters most to Silver and Abrams.
Game-wide behaviour changes
- Change Abilities and items now activate the instant you press the button, instead of waiting for the next input window. Everything feels slightly faster; nothing changed in the numbers.
- Change Parrying an objective successfully no longer resets your parry cooldown.
- Change Sinner's Sacrifices Sinner's Sacrifice Ten machines around the map, plus the Bell Tower A slot machine you punch for souls: each light melee pays about a twentieth of its value, each heavy a tenth, and the final hit pays half plus a heavy — more in the jackpot window, whose timing now varies. 500 health; it hits back for 80 a punch outside the jackpot phase. Souls 310 souls at 0:00 +3.35 a minute have variable timings to collect the bonus — do not assume the old fixed window.
- Change Walkers stop firing fireballs the moment they die, and show a dynamic attack and stomp range indicator as you approach instead of a permanent ground marker.
- Change Drop shadows now fall straight down rather than along the sunlight, which makes airborne enemies easier to track.
- Change New sound effects for every hero's light and heavy melee, and new footstep sounds for Billy, Mina, Drifter, Silver, Victor, Venator, Apollo, Graves, Celeste, The Doorman, Paige and Rem — audio cues you may have learned are different now.
- Change Troopers behave, animate and perform better.
- Change In Sandbox and Explore NYC, crates Crates Streets, rooftops and tunnels — about 500 of them Ordinary breakables. Each has a 60% chance to drop souls; a Tough Crate always drops, for double. Renamed items: old name to new
Deadlock renamed a number of items across 2025 and 2026, which is why older guides frequently name things that are no longer in the shop. Read this as a translation table rather than a reason to discard a guide — hover the new name for what it does now.
| Old name | Current name | |

| Armor Piercer Armor Piercer +60% Bullet Velocity +60% Proc Chance +8% Weapon Damage | ||

Roughly 100% of the matchup matrix has measured results behind it. The rest is rated from a kit model, and every page says which one it used rather than presenting them as the same thing. Win rates cover matches since this patch went live, so for the first days the samples are small; every page prints its sample size.
