Privacy

DenyPick has no accounts and no logins. It uses analytics to learn which parts of the site help players, and it shows ads to keep the site free. This page lists exactly what that involves.

What the site itself stores

Hero selections in the matchup tool live in the page address and nowhere else, which is why you can share a lineup by copying the link. A few small values are kept in your browser's local storage so the site can pick up where you left off. They never leave your device and you can clear them with your browser's site data:

• the last few hero pages you opened, for the "Your heroes" row on the home page;
• the dates of your last two visits, so the home page can point out what is new since then;
• the last patch whose notes you opened, so the Patch notes link can show a dot when there is a new one;
• combos you build in the combo builder, so they are still there next time.

Analytics

Page views are counted with cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics, which stores nothing on your device and cannot identify you.

To see which features people use and where the tool is confusing, DenyPick also uses:

• Google Analytics 4 (Google) — page views, how people arrive (search, Reddit, direct), country, device type and the product events listed below. Their privacy policy.
• Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft) — anonymised session recordings and heatmaps — where people click and scroll, where they get stuck. Sensitive input is masked by default. Their privacy policy.

The product events are coarse: which hero was picked, which matchup or build tab was opened, whether a search found anything, and clicks on the support link. Nothing you could type into the site is collected, and none of these analytics tools is used to build an advertising profile.

Visitors in Europe

If your browser is set to a European time zone, or Google detects you are in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, nothing is stored on or read from your device until you choose otherwise in Google's consent message. Until then the analytics tools run in cookieless mode and any ads are non-personalised. You can change your choice at any time from the "Privacy and cookie settings" link that message places on the page.

Everyone else

Outside Europe these tools set first-party analytics cookies so a returning visit can be told apart from a new one. You can block them with any content blocker or your browser's "block third-party content" setting, and the tool keeps working exactly the same. Google also offers an opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

DenyPick shows ads from Google AdSense to pay for the time each patch update takes. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads, including ads based on your earlier visits to this and other sites. You can turn personalised ads off in Google's Ad Settings or at aboutads.info, and read how Google uses data from sites that show its ads.

Ads are kept apart from the site's own advice, and advertisers have no say in what DenyPick writes or how heroes are ranked. Visitors in Europe see only non-personalised ads until they agree otherwise, as described above.

Server logs

The site is served as static files by Cloudflare, which keeps short-lived request logs (IP address, user agent, requested path) for security and abuse prevention. They are not used to build any profile.

Support links

The "Support on Ko-fi" link takes you to Ko-fi. If you leave a tip, the payment is handled by Ko-fi and its payment processor under their terms; DenyPick never sees your card details.

Source links point to other people's sites. Once you follow one you are on their terms, not these.

DenyPick holds no account data about you. Analytics data is held by the providers above and is not linked to your name or email. For any question or request, write to [email protected].

Changes

If what is collected changes, this page changes with it before the change ships, and the date at the top moves.
